How we see it
Shoe maintenance is more than good shoe trees and regular polishing. It is taking care of the soles as well. You may double your leather soles' lifespan, if you treat them four or five times a year with a mixture of natural oils and fats. Moreover, you will improve their water shedding capabilities and flexibility.

Be aware, most leather oils are made for chrome leathers. Such oils don't contain the right pH value, and they may harm the soles. Use a proper evidence-based mixture developed specifically for vegetable-tanned leather soles.

How to apply
Wipe off the soles. Apply the oil with a fine brush. Let the soles dry over night. Avoid any contact with the shoe upper.

Origin
The leather sole oil is developed by master tanner Andreas Ollert. The German Leather Institut in Freiberg has testified that the oil can double the lifespan of leather soles. The oil is a product from Burgol, a Swiss-German firm that was founded in 1921.
